Soundtrack research using the film 'Snatch'

Turkish and his accomplice Tommy get pulled into the world of match fixing by the notorious Brick Top. Things get complicated when the boxer they had lined up gets the life beaten out of him by Pitt, a 'pikey' who comes into the equation after Turkish, an unlicensed boxing promoter wants to buy a caravan off the Irish Gypsies. They then try to convince Pitt not only to fight for them, but to lose for them too. Whilst all this is going on, a huge diamond heist takes place, and a fistful of motley characters enter the story, including 'Cousin Avi', 'Boris The Blade', 'Franky Four Fingers' and 'Bullet Tooth Tony'.

We decided that this clip of snatch would be good to have on our blogs since it shows how they use music to change the tension. For example in this clip there’s a scene where the boxer everyone thought would win gets knocked out and loses, but instead of having a dark piece of scary suspenseful music playing in the background a soft acoustic piece of music starts to play. This makes the scene less threatening and slightly more relaxed. The music used down plays the tension which is what we hope to do in our film.
